Irreverent, soulful, and insightful, Sing, But Don't Tell explores the many eccentricities of isolation and connection in the modern city. An evening of original songs by Carner and Gregor (Unlock'd, NYMF 2007 - "Best Of Fest," Talkin' Broadway "Best Original Theatrical Score" and "Best Musical"), Sing, But Don't Tell combines glorious harmonies and musical comedy with elements of progressive rock to weave together the musical stories of 5 New Yorkers, as they struggle to break habits, get out of ruts, and shed their urban armor.

Sam Carner
Sam Carner (Lyricist)

Sam Carner received his B.A. from Yale University in 2001 and received his M.F.A. from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in 2003 on a Departmental Fellowship. He won the Children’s Theatre of Maine’s Young Playwright’s Contest in 1992 with his political satire musical The Rise of FTR. In 1995 his children’s musical What a Cat! was performed on the main stage at SUNY Plattsburgh and was later performed at the Children’s Theatre of Maine, who also commissioned and produced his 2000 children’s musical Barnyard Follies. His one-act play Brady was performed at the University of Southern Maine in 1997, and his 1920s-style college musical Just Call Me Eli! won the John Golden prize for best original musical by a Yale Undergraduate in 2000. His musical Unlock’d received a Richard Rodgers Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Unlock’d was produced at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007, where it won the “Best of the Fest” audience award and received Talkin’ Broadway Summer Theatre Festival Citations for “Outstanding New Musical” and “Outstanding Original Theatrical Score.” Sam was in residence at Yaddo in December of 2005. Over the past several years, Sam has lectured regularly on various musical-theatre-history-related topics at Yale. Sam has taught musical-theatre history and analysis courses at New York University and Yale.

 
Derek Gregor
Derek Gregor (Composer)

Derek Gregor received his BA from Skidmore College in 2000 and his MFA from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in 2003. His musical Unlock’d received a Richard Rodgers Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and was a Finalist in the National Musical Theatre Networks' Director's Choice Award. Unlock’d was produced at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007, where it won the “Best of the Fest” audience award and received two Talkin’ Broadway Summer Theatre Festival Citations for “Outstanding New Musical” and “Outstanding Original Theatrical Score.” In 2008, Unlock’d was part of the New Works Festival at TheatreWorks in Palo Alto and went on to receive a developmental workshop at the Ravinia Festival outside Chicago. Derek was in residence at Yaddo in 2005. Derek writes country music with Laura Bell Bundy, and one of their songs was recently featured on her cd Longing for a Place Already Gone. In 2001, he founded the rock band M-LAB: www.mlabmusic.com. Derek continues to tour with M-LAB today.

Other productions of YANK!: Diversionary Theatre, San Diego (Best Musical of 2007-2008; Outstanding Achievement in Direction of a Musical by StageScene L.A.); The Gallery Players, NY (GLAAD Award nomination; 2008 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical). Other credits include: Love, Incorporated for the Midtown International Theatre Festival (2008 Award for Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical) and starring Paolo Montalban for the Virginia Arts Festival (Stan Raiff producer); Like You Like It for The Gallery Players (2009 New York Innovative Theatre Award nomination for Outstanding Production of a Musical) and Theatre Under the Stars/Sam Houston State University; Tell Me (formerly The Chocolate Tree) for The New Jersey Rep, Actors Cabaret of Eugene, and starring Cady Huffman and Christopher Sieber for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre. Regional credits include: A Little Night Music (Capital Playhouse, Olympia, WA); I Love You Because, The Complete History of America (abridged), Blithe Spirit and Dracula (Barnstormers Theatre, NH); Romance/Romance, Violet, The Spitfire Grill and The Full Monty (The Theatre Barn, NY). Jeremy Jordan (Performer)

Jeremy Jordan is currently making his Broadway debut in Rock of Ages. Regional credits include Big River at Goodspeed and The Little Dog Laughed at Hartford Theatreworks (Connecticut Critics' Circle Nomination). TV: "Law and Order: SVU". Jeremy has also been sought after for numerous readings and concerts around the city. A recent graduate of Ithaca College, he holds a BFA in Musical Theatre.

 
Adam Kantor
Adam Kantor (Performer)

Adam Kantor is a cofounder of the nonprofit organization Broadway In South Africa, which brings Broadway artists to the townships of South Africa to conduct arts education workshops.  He is the producer of A Contemporary American's Guide To A Successful Marriage ©1959, which enjoyed an award-winning run off-Broadway this fall.  He played "Mark" in the final Broadway company of RENT, the final performance of which can be seen on the wide-release DVD "RENT: Filmed Live On Broadway".  Graduate of Northwestern 2008. 

 
Felicia Ricci
Felicia Ricci (Performer)

Felicia Ricci is a recent graduate of Yale University, where she played Gwendolen in "The Importance of Being Earnest" (Yale Rep), Cathy in "The Last Five Years," Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors," Violet in "Side Show," and Squeaky in "Assassins."  She has originated roles in NYMF ("The Jerusalem Syndrome"), NAMT ("The Chocolate Tree"), and was most recently spotted in "Hee-Haw" and "Garbo and Me" (York Theater).  Visit her at www.FeliciaRicci.com.
