During the course of the year, we present our Summer Festival, Annual Gala, and NYMF’s Next Broadway Sensation competition, and we need your help to make each event a success. Join us in achieving our mission of creating and nurturing new musical theater.

 

Volunteers, It’s Time to Sign Up for 2017 New York Musical Festival Shifts!

We’ve got an incredible lineup of new musicals this year, and we need your help to make this festival a raging success. Last year, we limited the number of shifts you could sign up for, but this year, we’re upping the perks;

1) There is no limit to the number of shifts you can sign up for, so if you want to see every single show in our festival, you can

2) The volunteer who signs up for and attends the most shifts will be invited to our Closing Night Ceremony and receive a prize from our NYMF team!

 

Before you dive in, check out the job descriptions below so that you can customize your volunteer experience:

At NYMF, we have three volunteer positions: Program Guide Delivery, Street Team, and Front of House.

Program Guide Delivery

Every year, the NYMF team creates a program guide with information about every show in our festival. We disburse this guide throughout the city to specific marketing partners, and a large number of industry offices, which is where you come in. During this two-hour shift, we’ll provide you and your teammate with a route and specific drop-off locations so that you can help us spread the word about our shows.
People per shift: 2
Dress code: Smart casual; Close-toed, comfortable shoes; solid colored shirt (no logos or designs, especially if they are religious, political, or explicit); shorts are allowed.
What to bring: Sunscreen and Water
Shift Length: 2 hours
Important Dates: Training June 21st & 22nd, Shifts will be on June 28th, 29th, 30th, July 6th and 7th.

Street Team

During our Festival, our street team is posted in Times Square, Bryant Park and Penn Plaza promoting all of the amazing shows in this year’s festival. Don’t worry! We’ll provide you with everything you need to know so that you can best assist our audience members when the time comes. As a representative of the Festival, this is a great opportunity to spread your love of NYMF and the shows at the Festival over the Summer, with potential audience members face-to-face. These shifts are perfect for bubbly, outgoing people, who love meeting and having conversations with others. After your shift, you may see one of the shows.
People per shift: 2
Dress code: Smart casual; Close-toed, comfortable shoes; solid colored shirt (no logos or graphics, especially if they are religious, political, or explicit); shorts are allowed.
What to bring: Sunscreen and Water
Shift Length: 2 hours
Important Dates: Training June 21st & 22nd, Shifts will be from 12 pm - 2 pm (over lunchtime) on July 5th - August 6th.

Front of House

At every show, we need 1 - 2 volunteers Front of House. In this position, you’ll greet and direct audience members, help them find Will Call and the restrooms, as well as manage the General Admission and Priority Seating lines. Other front of house tasks, including but not limited to program disbursement, may be assigned at the will of the House Manager. Once everyone is seated, you’ll see the show as well! Post show, you’ll see guests out and ask for any final donations to NYMF.
People per shift: 1 - 2
Dress Code: Smart casual; close-toed shoes; lanyard; solid colors only (no logos or graphics, especially if they are religious, political, or explicit); no shorts.
What to bring: Water
Shift Length: 1.5 hours + show time
Important Dates: Training June 21st & 22nd, Shifts will be on July 10th - August 6th
