MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY VS. THE DEVIL: AN AMERICAN MYTH is a Faustian comedy that dares to ask the question, “How did Matthew McConaughey win an Academy Award?" This show recounts how the RomCom-starring stoner became an A-list award winner. Matthew has his loyal agent Penny, his best friend Woody Harrelson, and his beloved bongos. Now all he needs is to be taken seriously in his art. Enter a demon with a deal too good to be true. Friendship, love, and loyalty are all tested in this hell-raising adventure to win Matthew the Oscar...and save his soul.

Emilie Landmann

Emilie Landmann (Book)

Emilie Landmann is a Theatre Artist based in Portland, OR. She has worked on and off stage with companies such as Profile Theatre, Post5 Theatre Company, Portland Actor’s Ensemble, Action/Adventure Theatre, Nutz-n-Boltz, and Original Practice Shakespeare. Additionally, she was a member of the 2013-14 Portland Playhouse Apprentice Company, where she wrote and performed the solo show, A Study on Outdoor Catholicism. She received her BA in Theatre Arts from Western Washington University.



Carrie Morgan (Book & Lyrics)

Carrie Morgan is a theatre artist and educator living in Portland, OR. Some of her favorite credits include American Idiot (Triangle Productions), Carrie the Musical (Stumptown Stages), Young Frankenstein (Lakewood Theatre Company), The Light in the Piazza, and A Christmas Carol (Portland Playhouse), and A Chorus Line (Berkshire Theatre Group). She wrote and performed the solo show, Party[girl], as an Apprentice at Portland Playhouse in 2014. She received her BFA from Samford University where she studied Musical Theatre.



Jon Quesenberry

Jon Quesenberry (Music & Lyrics)

Jon Quesenberry is a Musical Director, Composer, and Actor in Portland, OR. He received his BA in Music from Warner Pacific College and spent some time in New York learning the craft of musical theatre writing from Composer/Lyricists, Kirsten Childs and Joel Derfner through NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. In Portland, he has worked with companies such as Portland Center Stage, Broadway Rose Theatre Company, Triangle Productions, Oregon Children’s Theatre, and more. Jon has received many local accolades and nominations for his work as a Theatre Artist.



Thomas Caruso

Thomas Caruso (Director)

Most recently, Thomas directed the musical Southern Comfort at The Public Theatre (Lucille Lortel Award nomination & Outer Critics Circle nomination: Best New Musical 2016), Dynamo: Seeing Is Believing at the Hammersmith Apollo in the West End of London and its UK and Australian Tours.  He won the Excellence in Directing award for the NYMF musical, Academia Nuts.  He currently serves as the Associate Director of the Broadway musical, Groundhog Day, and directed the U.S. National Tour of Matilda in the spring of 2015. www.ThomasCaruso.com 

 



Rob Yoho

Rob Yoho (Assistant Director)

Rob Yoho is an Austin, TX based director, improviser, and teacher. He works on the management team and faculty at The Hideout, Austin’s longest-running improv theatre. He is also a co-founder and co-producer of American Berserk Theatre. MFA in Directing, Baylor University. Kristin Stowell

Kristin Stowell (Music Director)

Kristin Stowell is a music director, pianist, composer and vocal coach based in Brooklyn. She is currently a staff accompanist at Molloy College/CAP21, a music supervisor for Norwegian Cruise Lines and an adjunct faculty member at New York University where she teaches private piano lessons and keyboard skills classes. As a music director, Kristin Stowell has conducted a variety of shows from South Pacific to Hairspray and was the first female music director for Rock of Ages. Originally from Minnesota, she holds a master's degree in collaborative piano performance from NYU Steinhardt and a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University.



Billy Griffin

Billy Griffin (Choreographer)

Billy Griffin is a New York City based artist. Select choreography credits include work for Hershey Park, Waldameer Park, The Miss America Organization, The National YoungArts Foundation, Fleet Week at South Street Seaport, The Neighborhood Playhouse, Steps Conservatory and New York University. Select associate/assistant credits include working with Joshua Bergasse, Andy Blankenbuehler, Al Blackstone and currently Sonya Tayeh on a musical adaptation of As You Like It at the Delacorte Theater. Betty Weinberger

Betty Weinberger (Assistant Choreographer)

Betty Weinberger is a NYC-based dancer/choreographer with a degree in Dance Management from Oklahoma City University. Some of her favorite performance credits include ELF: THE MUSICAL (National Tour), SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Fireside Theatre), and the world premiere of Stephen Schwartz’s MAGIC TO DO. She continues to pursue a career both as a performer and a creative, and is thrilled to be working with the extraordinary Billy Griffin on this wonderful show!

Lesli is thrilled to be back at NYMF after winning Best Actress for last years festival production of A Scythe of Time. She won the Laurence Olivier Award for her performance as Inez in ZORRO THE MUSICAL on London's West End. She starred on Broadway originating the roles of Mona Kent in DAMES AT SEA, and Mrs. Wormwood in MATILDA THE MUSICAL. She stars in the film 'Opening Night' opposite Topher Grace and Taye Diggs.

Hailing from Saint Louis, Cameisha graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2014 with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Most recently she performed in the national tour of SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL as Sour Kangaroo and the regional tour of POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL as Lily Polkadot. Other favorite roles include Heather Duke in the regional premiere of HEATHERS at New Line Theatre, Wendla in SPRING AWAKENING, and Crystal in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
