The New York Musical Festival’s Student Leadership Program invites you to UNITED WE STAND, a song cycle that celebrates the ties that bind us together and challenges us to embrace what sets us apart. UNITED WE STAND is a night of original work created by the young voices of musical theater that lifts up the stories of communities — our own, others, and the ones that unite us all.

Brianna Barnes

Brianna Barnes (Composer)

Brianna Barnes is a recent graduate of the Musical Theater program at The University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM). There, she premiered her original musical, Let There Be Light, featuring "Illuminate the Night" and "United." Brianna was most recently seen performing at Capital Repertory Theater in Some People Hear Thunder and Theatre Aspen in Mamma Mia. Asher Muldoon

Asher Muldoon (Composer)

Asher Muldoon is an 18-year old actor, writer and composer. His ten minute musical, "Middle School Election," (for which he wrote book and lyrics, with music by Sammy Grob) won the high school division of the Festival of New American Musicals' 2015 Show Search and was performed in California. He is currently working on his first full musical, an adaptation of “The Butcher Boy” by Patrick McCabe, and will be attending Princeton University this fall.



Stephen Coakley

Stephen Coakley (Composer)

Stephen is an aspiring actor and singer/songwriter from Leesburg, VA. Currently, he is obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Ohio Northern University. At ONU, Stephen has acted, music directed, and composed for numerous production. Currently, he is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of New Heights Theatre Company, Loudoun County’s newest theatre group for youth and teens. 



Adam Rineer

Adam Rineer (Composer)

Adam is a new graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he received his B.A. in Music. Originally from Lancaster, PA, he is working as an accompanist and music director in the northeast region and relocating to NYC to pursue writing musical theatre. Adam also collaborates with lyricist/playwright, Ian Connor, and they are currently working on a new musical titled The Naked Truth. @adamjrineer.



Elias Kotsis

Elias Kotsis (Composer)

Elias Kotsis is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a B.A. in Music and a minor in Theatre Arts. He is currently in rehearsals for a production of [title of show] which seems notably serendipitous considering the show’s beginnings at the NYMF. Some of his favorite past roles include the Emcee in Cabaret and Huey in Memphis. He has scored several short films and has started work on a new musical this summer. 



Michael Wysong

Michael Wysong (Composer)

Michael Wysong is a Manhattan based songwriter and performer. At the University of Kansas, Michael wrote music for productions of A Doll’s House, Moliere’s The Hypochondriac, and his original song cycle Love is… He recently provided arrangements for the musical A Rock and a Hard Place and is currently working on a new adaptation of The Revenger’s Tragedy. He can often be found playing trombone in various pit-orchestras throughout the city. www.michael-wysong.com



Karl Munroe

Karl Munroe (Composer)

Karl Munroe is a composer, singer, songwriter, and orchestrator from Yarmouth, Maine. He is a current sophomore at Berklee College of Music where he is studying music composition, arranging, and writing for musical theater. Karl is the composer and lyricist for the original musical, Alive, as well as a two-time YoungArts winner in the Popular Voice and Singer/Songwriter categories. He is so excited to be here at NYMF this year!



Ben Rowley

Ben Rowley (Composer)

Ben Rowley is a New York based singer, composer, and producer, currently studying composition at NYU under the mentorship of Professor Joseph Church. This year, Ben's music has been performed throughout New York at the Skirball Center, Provincetown Playhouse, Nuyorican Cafe, First Stages showcase, NYU Composers Collective, and at the NYC Climate Justice Conference. He is currently the music director of the NYU Mixtapes a cappella group. Ben is thrilled to be apart of such an inspiring event.



Wildlin Pierrevil

Wildlin Pierrevil (Composer)

Wildlin Pierrevil is a 2nd-year BFA Musical Theatre student at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.  He is grateful to NYMF for providing the platform for his two pieces "Stumped" and "Taking It With Me". Wildlin is infinitely more grateful to his teacher, mentor and friend Kyle Tolar for igniting an intellectual, spiritual and expressive passion for music and its creative process within the beige walls of an AP Music Theory and Choir classroom.  This may be the first time that you are hearing of Wildlin Pierrevil- Certain not the last. Unless it is. Hopefully not though.



Liz Kantor

Liz Kantor (Composer)

Liz Kantor is a rising senior at Harvard University where she is pursuing a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and is currently writing her thesis on protein mutations in Parkinson's disease patients.  Her music has been featured in the New York Musical Festival's 2015 SLP Beyond Words and in Soundbytes, a concert with Brian Lowdermilk.  Last spring, her original musical SHE was produced at the American Repertory Theater’s second stage OBERON.  Music direction credits include: Songs for a New World (east coast tour), 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (with Ryan Scott Oliver and Lindsay Mendez), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, No Way to Treat a Lady, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  Many thanks to the SLP team, the Terry-Kantor family, Dan Levine, the Dettmer Lab, and to Lillian Weinberger for teaching her piano and a love for music.  lizkantor.bandcamp.com



Ethan Carlson

Ethan Carlson (Composer)

Ethan Carlson is an up-and-coming musical theatre composer, and his unique, folky, electric songs have been featured at Don't Tell Mama, 54 Below, the Davenport Theatre and more. He was recently a finalist in The Foundation for New American Musicals ShowSearch for his musical Blind Flight. His newest musical Her Sound was premiered last month at Don't Tell Mama. He is thrilled to be a part of NYMF again, and excited for you to hear some of his latest work.



Makulumy Alexander-Hills

Makulumy Alexander-Hills (Music Director)

Makulumy is a music director/arranger/pianist based in NYC. Previous credits include Violet (ART), Ragtime on Ellis Island (Assoc. MD), Finding Neverland (Intern, ART), The Man in the Ceiling(Theatreworks). Education work at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Stanford University, Sarah Lawrence College, and Shuffles Tap Studio. www.makulumymusic.com



Chris Barron

Chris Barron (Marketing Director)

Chris is so excited to be working on his first New York production. He is a rising senior at Muhlenberg College, where he will graduate with a double major in Theatre (acting concentration) and English. Last summer, he interned with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. Thanks to the team and everyone at NYMF for this wonderful experience!



Andrew Brown

Andrew Brown (Casting Director)

Andrew is a recent graduate of Marist College, majoring in English - Theatre and minoring in Music, and is excited to be working with this amazing cast and creative team. Since graduating, Andrew has interned at Manhattan Theatre Club, McCorkle Casting, Stewart/Whitley, and Liz Lewis Casting Partners and currently works as a casting assistant for Central Casting. This is his New York debut as a casting director and he would like to thank his friends, family, and the whole SLP team for the support!



Lindsey Ruggles

Lindsey Ruggles (Director)

Lindsey is a student at Harvard University, where she studies Theater, Dance, and Media. Directing credits include Submerged, Into the Void, and Down, Down, Down at Harvard University. Jane Silverstein

Jane Silverstein (Stage Manager)

Jane is so excited to be making her NYMF debut stage managing United We Stand! Jane is a stage manager and theatre technician based in Brooklyn, NY, where she is currently studying Technical Theater and Design at Brooklyn College. Previous credits include Spark of Creation at Lied Center in Lincoln, NE,  Magic? at Dixon Place, and HORSE at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. In addition, Jane has been published in Dramatics Magazine and Breaking Character Magazine. She would like to thank her friends and family, as well as the incredible cast and crew for their love and support!



Alexa Spiegel

Alexa Spiegel (Producer)

Alexa is a newly minted graduate from Fordham University Lincoln Center . She has interned at what seems like every theatre related position in New York City, including interning for Broadwayworld, Ars Nova, BroadwayCon, and the greatest rock band in the world - Sky-Pony. Alexa is extremely happy and proud to be making her producorial debut with this talented team! Thank you to NYMF for the wonderful opportunity!



Amara Janae Brady

Amara Janae Brady makes her New York stage debut with NYMF this year. BFA in Acting from The University of Oklahoma. Roger Dawley

Roger Dawley is a performer from Scituate, MA. He has just completed his sophomore year at Fordham University Lincoln Center, where he is working towards a degree in Communications. Danny DiMarino

Danny DiMarino is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, where he studied Theatre and Environmental Science. Alicia “Ash” Hurtado

Alicia “Ash” Hurtado (Performer)

Alicia (Ash) Hurtado is pumped sing with United We Stand! With the New York Lyric Opera, Alicia played La Fée in Cendrillon and covered Adele in Die Fledermaus. University of Illinois roles include Fortuna in Poppea, Peaseblossom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and ensemble in The Merry Widow. Other credits include Jojo in GLOS’s Seussical, Christine in FVTC’s Phantom of the Opera, Estragon in PDP’s Waiting for Godot, Bo Peep in Chicago Folks Operetta’s Babes in Toyland, and Jane in Circle Theatre’s The Women.



Jordan Jacobs

Jordan is thrilled to be a part of United We Stand! Previous credits include Peter and the Starcatcher(Peter) at Oklahoma CityRep and James and the Giant Peach (Grasshopper) at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, as well as the most recent production of 54 Sings 1776 at Feinstein’s/54 Below. Jordan is a recent graduate of Oklahoma City University and now lives in NYC!’



Sumner Perera

Sumner Perera will be a junior at Harvard College, majoring in Chemical & Physical Biology and minoring in Theater. Recent performances include The Trojan Women (Queen Hecuba) and Gypsy (Rose) with the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club, as well as The Human Incubator at the 2017 SheNYC Arts Festival. Originally from Sydney Australia, Jessica is a 2017 Musical Theatre graduate from AMDA New York. Some of her credits include: ASCAP Cabaret at Don’t Tell MamaWendla in Spring Awakening; ATYP – (nominated for two Sydney Theatre awards), Cathy in DNA; State Drama, Tracy in Hairspray; Packemin Pro, backing vocalist for Tim Minchin; ABC TV. Ben Ross, Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama BFA Musical Theater class of 2020. 2016 National YoungArts winner in theatre, 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and 2016 Grand Prize Winner of the Music Center Spotlight Awards. Jada is a writer, actor, and singer from San Diego. She is going into her senior year at Pace University who was most recently seen as Dotty in "Caroline or Change," under the direction of Jeanine Tesori.
