Set against the 2008 financial meltdown, we meet Prince, a classically trained dancer who dreams of becoming a rap star. After suffering a humiliating defeat at a local open mic competition, Prince struggles to redeem himself in the eyes of his friends and family. He falls hard for a girl named Stacy but his parents’ prejudice threaten to tear them apart. Can Prince overcome his fears and troubled home life to achieve his Hip Hop dreams? It’s a journey of Swagger, Survival, and the Search for Self.

Ronvé O’Daniel

Ronvé O’Daniel (Book, Music, Lyrics)

Regional credits include: Altar Boyz, Seussical the Musical, and Amen Corner. He received his BFA in Musical Theatre from Wright State University. As a solo artist/rapper he's been featured on Billy Danze’s (from legendary hip-hop group M.O.P.) mixtape series Rap’s United Nations, as well as DJ Green Lantern's "Overtime Grind Mixtape Vol 2." He has also been featured in XXL Magazine, as well as His current singles “Classy” and “Star Power” are in full rotation and are available on iTunes.

Jevares C. Myrick

Jevares C. Myrick (Music, Orchestrations & Arrangements)

is a Producer, Composer, Singer, Dancer. His regional theater credits include: The Producers, Sophisticated Ladies, Ragtime, Grease, Ain't Misbehavin, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, All Night Strut, Smokey Joe's Cafe, among MANY others. Jevares attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He has performed all around the world and has producer for many corporate events. Currently, Jevares can be seen performing in the Broadway Production of The Book of Mormon.

J Kyle Manzay

J Kyle Manzay (Director/ Story Consultant)

J Kyle received his MFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA from Howard University. Directing credits include: The Actor's Rap starring Vanessa Simmons (BPAC), The Bootleg Blues starring Chadwick Boseman and Tracie Thoms (Studio Tisch)Hip-Hop Monologues starring Jim Jones (37 Arts), and Toledo/Atlanta workshop productions of iLLA: A Hip-Hop Musical. An Obie Award winner and 5 time AUDELCO Award nominee, J Kyle has been featured on "Good Day New York", "The Hot 97 Morning Show", "The Wendy Williams Radio Show" and featured in the New Yorker Magazine, New York Times and XXL Magazine.

Will Stone

Will Stone (Music Director, Music Supervisor, Music Consultant, Co-Vocal Arranger)

also known as Will Pailen, has received his Masters of Music Production Technology and Innovation at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. He also has a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Howard University, is a 2006 graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School where he studied drama. He has been the musical director for "iLLA a Hip Hop Musical" since September 2015; the musical director and vocal arranger of “For Vixens Who’ve Considered Homicide When the Video’s Too Much”; the musical director of “Ain’t Misbehavin’”; and the vocal director and vocal arranger of the Off-Broadway hit revival "The Great MacDaddy" in association with The Negro Ensemble Company. Mr. Stone is excited to be working with such a talented group of performers.


David Coffman

David Coffman (Producer)

David conceived and produced the hit Latino musical 4 Guys Named José which played in New York. He also conceived and produced Blackbirds of Broadway which toured the U.S. and Europe. Currently, David is Managing Director for Sundance Productions Inc., the New York office of BB Promotion, the leading provider of high quality live entertainment in Europe. David is the New York representative for Nordiska ApS, Scandinavia's largest theatrical stage rights agency. He has negotiated international licenses for many Broadway musicals including, Flashdance,The Addams Family, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, The Full Monty, Avenue Q, Wicked (Helsinki), Next To Normal, and Cats (Mexico) David speaks regularly at the Commercial Theatre Institute on international licensing of Broadway musicals. 

Titus Makin Jr.

Titus Makin Jr. (Prince)

Born on June 10, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Titus knew from a very early age, that he was meant to be in show business. However, he did not start acting until age 17, his senior year of high school, where his first role was a lead role in a musical called “1940's Radio Hour.” After graduating from Buena High, in Sierra Vista, Arizona, he was accepted into The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts’ professional training program. During his first year in the program, he got a job as a "New York Knicks Acroback Tumbler". They performed during half times, for the Knicks Madison Square Garden home games. Titus shares, “I'll never forget singing the national anthem before the Knicks vs. Celtics game at Madison Square Garden, with Spike Lee sitting in the front row. It was amazing. Titus was also a “NY Liberty dancer", which is a co-ed hip hop dance team for the WNBA. However, as soon as Titus graduated, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his entertainment career on a larger professional level. He quickly found success as a recurring character on Fox's hit show "Glee," for three seasons. As one of the original “Warblers” he was able to tour the world with the “Glee: Live Concert Tour”, and that tour also turned into a feature length docu/drama film. He went on to star in the CW series “Star Crossed”, Since then Titus starred as the lead in the made for television movie, “Gamers”, in addition he had a leading role in the TV movie, "A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song”. His episodic work has included a recurring role on “Pretty Little Liars”, “NCIS: New Orleans”, “NCIS”, “Grey’s Anatomy” “The Closer”, “Grimm”, “Castle”, plus various international appearances and tours related to “Glee.”

Zhailon Levingston (Narrator)

Zhailon Levingston is a performing artist and writer living in New York City. He received a BFA in Musical Theatre from AMDA college in Los Angeles. There He enjoyed roles in dreamgirls, little shop of horrors, and children of Eden. Zhailon made his professional stage debut in the Los Angeles premier of The Christians (pastor Joshua u/s) at the Mark Taper Forum. He can be seen in an upcoming Warby Parker ad campaign and the independent film The Stand.

Jenna Rubaii (Stacy)

Jenna is stoked to be making her NYMF debut! National/International tours: American Idiot (The Extraordinary Girl), Saturday Night Fever (Stephanie Mangano). Other credits include: Tommy Tune’s 54 Forever (Liza Minnelli), RENT (Mimi), Grease (Marty), Odile’s Ordeal (Odile). Workshop readings: Murder at the Gates, Freaky Friday, Popstar. Jenna is also a singer/songwriter in the NYC based folk-rock duo, Water & Rye. Thanks to Geoff, Eddie & LW. For: every color of love that exists. Peace & light. 

Ben Chavez (Cipher)

Ben Chavez is a recent NYU Tisch graduate. Performance credits include Legally Blonde (Sacramento Music Circus), Bombshell from NBC’s “Smash” (Minskoff Theatre), and Grease (North Shore Music Theatre). Ben is also an award-winning composer; credits include The Cobalteans (NYMF, Outstanding Music Award) and Elysium, a new piece presented this summer at the Finger Lakes Musical Theater Festival. Jesse Markowitz (Cipher)

Jesse Markowitz is thrilled to be making his NYMF debut with iLLA! Jesse just completed his second stint performing on Disney Cruise Line's Disney Wonder in shows like Toy Story: The Musical (Slinky Head) and Disney Dreams (Aladdin). Regional credits: Cleveland premiere of Avenue Q (Princeton), Rent (Marc), All Shook Up (Dean Hyde). Other favorite credits: Spring Awakening (Moritz) and Legally Blonde (Warner). BFA Kent State University. 33! 

Josh Rivera (Cipher)

Josh Rivera is a recent graduate of Ithaca College's BFA Musical Theater program making the transition into being a full time New Yorker. He just finished his first regional credit playing Graffiti Pete, in the Hangar Theater's production of In The Heights. Other credits include, Eddie Birdlace in Dogfight, Juan Julian in Anna in the Tropics, and Man 2 in Gone Missing, all at Ithaca College.

Melody Madarasz (Cipher)

Nyseli Vega (Cipher)

Nyseli Vega is a Dominican actor/singer, born in NYC and raised in Houston. She recently debuted as the character 'Cuqui' in the world premiere of Carmen La Cubana at the Teatre De Chatelet in Paris, France! Some other credits include 'the drunk girl' in season 4 of OITNB, 'DJ' in One Day the Musical (Off Broadway), Improviser with Face Off Unlimited (ongoing). She is very grateful for this journey of life. Peace and Love always. 

Katrina Rose Diderkisen (Cipher)

Andrew Bancroft (Big Trey)

Andrew Bancroft is a writer, musician, and actor in New York. He performs with Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda in the rap group Freestyle Love Supreme. Bancroft’s indie band Moondrunk releases a debut album in August 2016. He wrote, directed, and starred in the musicals Orpheus and Eurydice Are F*cking in Love (Ars Nova) and Killing My Lobster Faces the Music. His rapper alter ego Jelly Donut has been featured on Mtv’s TRL and in Rolling Stone.

Perry Young (Slim)

Perry is so excited to return to NYMF with the thrilla that is iLLA! Past credits include Usnavi In The Heights (National Tour), Bernardo West Side Story, and Slim iLLA (NYMF). Perry has also won a Broadway World award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical for In The Heights. He send his love to his family for their endless support. Janelle McDermoth (Cipher)

Janelle McDermoth is a multi-platform creative from the Bronx, NY. Favorite stage credits include: HAIR International Tour, Ghost (Fulton Theatre, Maine State Music Theatre), Soul Doctor (Off Broadway), and The Life (11th Hour Theatre Company). Avionce Hoyles  is a Rock Hill SC native and a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy NY. Avionce has had the esteemed pleasure to perform in numerous productions across the US and Europe, some of his credits include; Memphis the musical  (National Tour), Bring it On (European tour), Sister Act  (Ogunquit Playhouse) , Rent (Edge Theatre), and Songs For A New World (TNT Chesapeake) to name a few. Andrea Dora (Morgan)

This is Andrea's 2nd NYMF show and she's very excited to be apart of Illa.  Andrea hails from Kansas City, Missouri. Broadway shows include:Motown OBC (Suzanne de Passe), Tarzan (Kala u/s). International Tours: Rent (Joanne). New York workshops: Jerry Mitchell’s Peep Show and Josephine The Musical. Regional Theatre: Cape Cod Playhouse, Westport Country Playhouse, Prince Music Theatre, Starlight Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse and Goodspeed Musicals. Commercials/Industrials: Media Set, Bing, Gilette, New York Lottery, Citi Bank, Capital One, and McDonalds.  Andrea was recently in an Episode of "The Mysteries of Laura", starring Deborah Messing.  Andrea is the founder, band leader, and singer in the New York City based event band that travels the world, The Hudson Project.  Much love to God, family and husband.  This ones for you David.

Darryl Williams (Pops)

This is Darryl Jovan Williams' second show at NYMF. He received rave reviews in last years hit "Acapella". He has been fortunate to perform for Pope (now Saint) John Paul II IN Bologna, Italy. Darryl has performed in such shows as Passing Strange , The Wiz 40  Anniversary in Central Park, Once On This Island, Smokey Joe’s Cafe w/Gladys Knight, and the Original Broadway casts reunion at 54below, Jesus Christ Superstar Gospel (in which he played Judas and worked with Sir. Andrew Lloyd Webber as vocal arranger). He has recently returned from Calgary Canada performing with the Calgary Philharmonic.  

Jared Dixom (Cipher)

A Queens, NY native, Jared is honored to be apart of NYMF for the first time, joining the ILLA family. Regional credits: In the Heights (Benny), The Color Purple (Harpo), Hello Again (Husband/ Senator) The Little Princess (Pasko) Hairspray (Seaweed) and Violet (Flick). As a singer/songwriter, Jared has two R&B albums Back2Love (2010) and EPic (2013). Recently, Jared was featured in the cast of #Bars Mixtape Musical Medley Vol. 1. "This thing we do is a gift and I'll always cherish being apart of giving it" 

Carlton Terrence Taylor (Gary)

Carlton is an avid believer in living out loud and is glad to join "ILLa" at this stage in its amazing journey. A Native of Harlem  currently the Artistic Director of Impact Repertory Theatre and Graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Some credits include featured singer at the 80th Annual Academy Awards, Man 1 in Songs for a New World, Follow the star w/ Carol woods & C.C in Dreamgirls w/Ben Harney.
