A one-night-only concert event featuring the songs of CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN! The music, written by composer/lyricist Kevin Ray, tells the story of two brothers in pursuit of one passion – jazz! Set in the sexy 1940s, when swing was hot and bop was right around the corner, this award-winning jazz-infused pop score won both the Excellence in Music and the Excellence in Orchestrations Awards at NYMF 2011. Come hear the music New York Times critic Anita Gates calls “Lively, moving and truly original.”

Andrea Lepcio

Andrea Lepcio (Book)

Andrea Lepcio is best known for Looking for the Pony, a finalist for the Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award and for the NEA Outstanding New American Play Award. It was presented in a "Rolling World Premiere" Off-Broadway at Vital Theatre Company in New York and Synchronicity Performance Group in Atlanta and subsequent productions. Her plays and musicals have been produced and developed at HERE, Lark Play Development Center, New York Music Theatre Festival, TerraNova Collective, Vital Theatre, and Women's Project among others in NY as well as regionally and internationally. Plays and musicals under development include The World Avoided, Strait of Gibraltar, CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN, Room 16, and Lf&Tms. Andrea is the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program Director. M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing, Carnegie Mellon University. B.A. Human Ecology, College of the Atlantic. Andrea lives in Harlem, New York and Seal Cove, Maine.

Kevin Ray

Kevin Ray (Book/Music/Lyrics)

Kevin Ray is a composer/lyricist/performer originally from Los Angeles. He wrote the music and lyrics for CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN which was honored with 5 awards at the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival, including Excellence in Music, and the Daegu International Production Award. As an artist, he has released 7 CDs of original rock/pop music including his most recent release, Radio Silence. Kevin is currently at work constructing his new musical Maquiladora about factory workers in Juarez, Mexico.

Dominic Taylor

Dominic Taylor (Book)

Author of Wedding Dance, Personal History, Upcity Service(s), and I Wish You Love, among other plays. He is an alumnus of New Dramatists. Directing projects have included, Purple Flower, Fresh Faust, Uppa Creek, Destiny, Ride the Rhythm, The Wiz, and Black Nativity. He has worked with Penumbra Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, New York Theatre Workshop, Crossroads Theater, Rites and Reasons Theatre, among others. He holds a Bachelors and a Master of Fine Arts from Brown University.

Suellen Vance

Suellen Vance (Additional Story)

Suellen Vance is an actress, writer, producer, and general manager. In NYC, she's appeared in theatre, film, commercials, and voice overs. Since 2011, she's produced the multi-award winning premieres of CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN (2011) and Crossing Swords (2013). Managing Member Moldy Fig Productions, LLC. Rodrick Covington

Rodrick Covington (Jim Marcel)

Rodrick Covington was last seen in Witness Uganda at A.R.T and is thrilled to be a part of CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN, for which he was awarded Most Outstanding Individual Performance in NYMF for the role of Jim in 2011. Jennifer Fouche is a member of the Amoralists Theatre Company and former member of The Bats.  Some credits: Hamlet (Shakespeare in Bryant Park), Portraits (Prospect Theatre Company), Ain't Misbehavin' (Cape Playhouse), Kaspar Hauser (The Flea Theatre), Hairspray (Gateway Playhouse), Julius Caesar (Hudson Shakespeare Company), Freedom Train (National Tour), Babes In Toyland (Lincoln Center), Amerissiah (The Amoralists), Mme. Walker & The Divine Dream (NYMF). Television: Animal Planet, SMASH. Currently starring in SISTAS: The Musical Off-Broadway.

Sheldon Henry

Sheldon has performed with some of the world’s best tap-dancers, traveled the world with the Boys Choir of Harlem and is a native New Yorker. BFA - The Hartt School of Music.

Ted Nash

Ted Nash (Alto Saxophone)

Mr. Nash is a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Jazz Composers Collective, as well as his own groups Odeon, Still Evolved and Double Quartet. His CDs have received many awards, including top ten CDs by The New York Times, Village Voice, Boston Globe, New York Newsday, The New Yorker, Downbeat Magazine, and Jazz Times. Nash’s release, Portrait in Seven Shades (JLCO), garnered two Grammy nominations.

Stacey Sargeant

Stacey Sargeant is thrilled to be joining the CENTRAL AVENUE BREAKDOWN family again after having played Martha Marcel in their 2012 NYMF & DIMF productions, for which she received an Outstanding Individual Performance Award and Best Featured Actress Award, respectively. Donna Vivino

Donna Vivino (Jane Brooks)

Donna Vivino was most recently seen in the world premiere of Still Will Be Heard playing poet Edna St.Vincent Millay at MSU's Peak Performances (BT Jones, Jed Wheeler). Broadway/NYC credits include: Wicked (Elphaba), Stars of DavidMartin Short: Fame Becomes MeHairspraySaturday Night Fever, and Les Miserable(original Young Cosette). Juson WIlliams

Juson is proud to be part of the award-winning CENTRAL AVENUE family once again, after being a part of the production in New York and in Daegu Korea. His N.Y./Tour Credits include The Color Purple, Scottsboro Boys, The Wiz, It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Stormy Weather, Raisin, and a host of others. Lee Summers (Director)

Lee Summers directed NYMF’s 2014 Harriet; he is an alumni writer/composer/director for NAMT; a published member of the Dramatists Guild; co-writer/creator/producer of Off-Broadway’s From My Hometown (8 AUDELCO Nominations); writer of Ella Fitzgerald: First Lady of Song (Kennedy Center 2013/Metro Stage 2014) and has directed other shows in New York and regionally. He has performed On (orig. Dreamgirls) and Off-Broadway, on TV, and in films. Presently, he is an MFA Candidate in NYU/Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.  

Denise Wilcox (Stage Manager)
