ASSITEJ/USA (The International Association of Theatre For Children and Young People, USA Branch) Joan Cushing’s musical Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood was selected for production in the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival. 18 musicals were selected from 400 submissions to be presented in the fall in six Off-Broadway theatres, each receiving six fully produced performances. The festival dates are September 17 - October 7, 2007. The musical is adapted from the book by Mike Artell and was originally commissioned and produced by Imagination Stage, Bethesda, MD in the Spring of 2005. Since then, there have been five more productions, including Childsplay Theatre, AZ and Raleigh Little Theatre, NC (3 Cantley Award nominations).
