The New York Musical Theatre Festival has announced the 18 shows that will receive productions in the 2007 Festival. The shows were selected from the hundreds of open submissions to the Next Link Project.

The 2007 Next Link Project selections feature a diverse variety of topics. Themes include shows based on classic works of literature -- Emma based on the Jane Austen novel, Austentatious which features a community theatre group's production of Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes - The Early Years based on Sir Arthur Conanan Doyle's detective series, and Love Sucks a modern punk band retelling of  Shakespeare's Love's Labours Lost; modern disorders -- The Boy In The Bathroom dealing with OCD and The Yellow Wood dealing with ADD; family dramas -- Gemini The Musical and The Family Fiorelli (and how they stayed one); and musicals based on true historical stories -- Look What a Wonder Jesus Has Done a fictionalized account of a slave conspiracy in 1822, and Mud Donahue & Son based on Jack Donahue's experience as a vaudeville performer.

Other Next Link selection titles include "The Angle of the Sun," "Going Down Swingin' (The Don Giovanni Radio Hour", "Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood", "Such Good Friends", "Sympathy Jones", "Tully (in no particular order)", and "Warbrides."
