The hit of the innaugural New York Musical Theatre Festival, [title of show] will officially open at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre on July 16. The production will re-unite the original NYMF cast (who also played the roles off-Broadway): Jeff Bowen, Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, and musical director Larry Pressgrove (writer of Angle of the Sun, NYMF 2007). Direction and choreography will again be by Michael Berresse.

[title of show] is based on Bowen and Bell’s real life experience of creating an original musical for NYMF. The show follows the struggles of two writers trying to create a successful new piece in a theatre community filled with musicals based on movies and popular revivals. First seen at the 2004 Festival, the show enjoyed a brief run at Ars Nova, before officially making its Off-Broadway debut at the Vineyard Theatre in 2006.

Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller, Laura Camien, Roy Miller, and NYMF’s Founder Emeritus Kris Stewart will produce the Broadway production along with the Vineyard. The creative team will feature Neil Patel (set design), Ken Billington and Jason Kantrowitz (lighting design), Acme Sound Partners (sound design), and Chase Tyler (costume design)—who has also been with the show since the original NYMF run.

The writers (and stars), Bowen and Bell, as well as director Michael Berresse all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production. After the musical’s successful Off-Broadway run and cast recording, the show created a huge cult following, which initiated a recurring video blog about the show's journey to Broadway called The [title of show] show.
