Bathroom Reading: 2007 NYMF Show selected by ASCAP and Disney

NYMF 2007 Alum and winner of multiple 2007 NYMF Awards for Excellence, The Boy in the Bathroom, has been selected for ASCAP/Disney Musical Workshop. The reading will be held on Tuesday March 18 at 7pm.

The ASCAP Foundation is pleased to announce The Boy in the Bathroom among six new musical works selected out of almost 200 for presentation at the annual ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop in New York. The Boy in the Bathroom premiered at The 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival and received awards for Best Book,Best Design, the Microsoft HealthVault Most Promising New Musical award, and earned Mary Stout an award for Outstanding Individual Performance.
The workshop is directed by Academy and Grammy Award-winning composer/lyricist, Stephen Schwartz, whose credits include the Broadway smash Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, the Walt Disney film Enchanted, and the NYMF 2004 show, Captain Louie. The selected musical theatre writers receive the opportunity to make short presentations from their original works-in-progress for professional critique by a panel of the most prominent theatre producers, directors and composers, including Lynn Ahrens (2008 NYMF Juror), Susan Birkenhead, Craig Carnelia, Stephen Flaherty, Carol Hall and Glenn Slater.
The Boy in the Bathroom, book and lyrics by Michael Lluberes, music and additional lyrics by Joe Maloney, will recieve a 50 minute reading presentation featuring the original NYMF cast, Ana Nogueira, Mary Stout, and Michael Zahler. The reading will be directed by Michael Lluberes.

The workshop is free of charge and open to everyone, regardless of performing rights affiliation. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
