Although 2007 festival seems like it only finished yesterday, NYMF is already gearing up for an even bigger and better season in 2008. Open submissions to the Next Link project will be accepted starting January 1!  NYMF received hundreds of submissions in 2007 and expects to receive even more for the 2008 Festival.

The Next Link Project is NYMF’s central series of new musicals, accounting for 18 of the 30+ productions in each year's festival.  NYMF  maintains an open submissions policy and a blind evaluation process to ensure that writers from every level of the theatre community, from working professionals to those whose work has not yet been produced, are given the opportunity to participate.

Next Link selections have become audience favourites such as The Boy in the Bathroom ('07) and Smoking Bloomberg ('06). Finalists will also be evaluated by a star-studded grand jury whose previous members have included BD Wong (You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Pacific Overtures), Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza, Titanic), Phylicia Rashad (Cymbeline, A Raisin in the Sun), Margo Lion (Hairspray, The Wedding Singer), and Robert Lopez & Jeff Marx (Avenue Q).

Submissions will be accepted from January 1 until March 1, 2008.

Be sure to include in your submission a demo recording of your songs, a detailed synopsis of your show, a complete script, and, if applicable, proof of rights to adapt underlying material.  Click here for more information including Frequently Asked Questions about submitting.
