The $175 ticket includes dessert, wine, coffee, and the awards show including performances by Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik, Xanadu's Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman, and the winners of the NYMF Awards for Excellence. The 2007 NYMF Awards Gala is honoring a new generation of Broadway producers--Robert Ahrens (Xanadu), Pun Bandhu (Spring Awakening), and Jennifer Maloney (Legally Blonde, Spring Awakening)-- along with the winners of the NYMF 2007 Awards for Excellence.
The performance and awards show will include numbers from Sherlock Holmes (the early years), winner of the Theater for the American Musical Prize, The Boy in the Bathroom, winner of the Microsoft HealthVault Most Promising New Musical Award, and Unlock'd, the winner of the Verizon Wireless Best of Fest Audience Prize. Also participating will be Tony Award winning director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), lead producer Tom Hulce, Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: SVU, producer on Spring Awakening), Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara, and Xanadu bookwriter Douglas Carter Beane.
Since 2004, the New York Musical Theatre Festival has established itself as the key source for new material and talent discovery in the world of musical theatre. NYMF is dedicated to helping musical theatre continue to thrive in the 21st century and is thrilled to honor three Broadway producers who have a similar mission. The honorees are all committed to producing new musicals on Broadway and, like NYMF, are on the forefront of the musical theatre revolution.
