This unique, danced-through musical, created especially for NYMF '08 and choreographed by five of today's most talented young choreographers, begins where the tabloids left off. A completely fresh look at Leona Helmsley, one of NYC's most colorful characters, and the one man who loved her, the many others who did not, and her dog...who inherited 12 million bucks.

Susan DiLallo (Writer)

Susan is a recipient of the coveted Kleban Award, given annually to ‘the most promising librettist in musical theater.'

Her book and lyrics to an original musica lcomedy, Once Upon a Time in New Jersey, won both a Richard Rodgers Award and The Global Search for New Musicals Competition, Cardiff 2005. It has had several regional and international productions.

Her libretto for an another musical comedy, Iron Curtain (2006 NYC Innovative Theater Award, Best Production of a Musical) earned her a Jonathan Larson Award. The show was further developed with the support of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center during a residency at the National Music Conference this past August.

Other credits include: the Mattel/Clear Channel production of Barbie Live! In Fairytopia (book and lyrics); That's Life (Outer Critics Circle nominee); book and lyrics for Pinocchio, a Family Musical About Adoption (winner, KIDDSTUFF New Play Competition); lyrics for This Week in the Suburbs,
a musical revue; and the revised libretto for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

She has worked as a dramaturg and editor for several playwrights and authors, and was a humor columnist for The Rye (New York) Record.

Dan Acquisto
Dan Acquisto (Composer)

Daniel received his MM Composition (electronic and acoustic) from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He was seen last year onstage at NYMF co-starring with book writer/lyricist Sammy Buck in "The Seven-Year B*tch". He also co-wrote with Sammy "Like You Like It" (New Voices Prize, NYMF 2nd Runner-UP Audience Prize Cardiff International Musical Theatre Festival's Global Search for New Musicals) seen in NYMF's first year. It will be presented at The Gallery Players this October-November in Park Slope. Theatrical commissions include: "Dancing in the Dark," "Antigone: The Rock Musical" (Studio Arena Theatre), Tada!, nine children's musical at Merkin Hall, Indiana State Fair, the A-Train Musicals, Raw Impressions, FUSE, incidental music (Subejective Theatre Co., All Out Arts Festival). Other commissions include: United States Air Force Band Clarinet Quartet, U.of Cincinnati's Men's Chorus (Shawnee Press, publisher). Films: "Swept," "King Kash," "The Death of Nathan's Ghost." He articipated in the ASCAP/NYU Film Scoring Workshop. He also is a music director, percussionist, arranger/orchestrator, and music educator. Elizabeth Lucas (Director)

Elizabeth Lucas is thrilled to be making her feature directing debut with
three genre movies about New York City, her rock movie musical, CLEAR BLUE
TUESDAY, her teen slasher flick, RED HOOK, and her Sci-fi FADE TO WHITE.
She's also made three shorts, including the multi-award-winning ISABELLA
RICO, which appeared in 33 festivals worldwide and won Best Director and
Special Achievement awards.

Elizabeth has developed new musicals for the theatre at every stage,
including several New York Musical Theatre Festival premieres, THE LAST
STARFIGHTER, THE VIEW FROM HERE and CAPTAIN GRAVY'S WAVY NAVY. Her Midwest
premiere of HELLO AGAIN won two After Dark Awards and was recommended for a
Jefferson Award. Her productions of FOOTLOOSE and JEKYLL & HYDE garnered
rave reviews at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. She directs regionally and has
directed many readings and workshops.

As a producer, Elizabeth is one of the founders of the New York Music
Theatre Festival, for which she spearheaded the Movie Musical Screening
Series. She also founded the Door County Opera and the Chicago Directors'
Forum.

Elizabeth is a member of the League of Professional Theatre Women, NY Women
in Film & Television, 2004 Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus, the 2004
Commercial Theatre Institute 14-Week Program, the League of American
Theatres Producer Development Program and the 1998 Lincoln Center Theatre
Directors Lab.

Joshua Bergasse
Joshua Bergasse (Choreographer)

As a Director/Choreographer Joshua recently staged and directed the opening number of BC/EFA's 19th annual Gypsy of the Year competition at the New Amsterdam Theatre where he worked with 27 members of the original Broadway Cast of West Side Story including Chita Rivera and Carol Lawrence in their 50th anniversary reunion! Other New York & Regional; The ISES Big Apple Awards!, Stephen Schwartz's Captain Louie (York Theatre & Little Shubert Theatre,) The World Goes Round, The Whos' Tommy, South Pacific, Beehive, multiple productions Smokey Joes Café and West Side Story and the national tour of Fame. World premieres include the Off-Broadway hit Bomb-itty of Errors; Crash Nation (Cherry County Playhouse,) Manhattan Magic (Sands Resort in Atlantic City,) A Holiday for Hope (Bushnell Theatre,) The Rose of Corazon (Contemporary American Theatre Festival,) My America (Kravis) Joshua's Broadway and National touring Credits as a performer include Movin Out, Hairspray, The Life, and West Side Story. Joshua is currently Directing and Choreographing Bianca Marroquin in her autobiographical review, Solo Pido, which premieres in Mexico City next month.
As an instructor, Joshua is a faculty member at the Broadway Dance Center and a guest instructor for the Manhattan Dance Project, West Coast Dance Explosion, The Pulse, James Madison University, Shenandoah University, and the University of California Satellite Program.

 
Maurice Brandon Curry
Maurice Brandon Curry (Choreographer)

Maurice has directed, choreographed, and produced events as diverse as the Michael Awards for the Fashion Industry, tours and videos for Diana Ross, Prince, and Al B. Sure, the kick-off of the Tour de France and the Queen’s Trust Benefit in 2006 for the charities of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He has choreographed ballets and theatre works in the active repertoires of numerous companies and universities around the world. Additionally, he has produced extensively in the fashion industry for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, and Giorgio Armani. Mr. Curry has also directed and/or choreographed three critically acclaimed Off-Broadway shows and many shows regionally including “West Side Story,” “Nunsense,” “Sweet Charity,” “Oliver!” and “42nd Street.” He has also directed and choreographed several short films.

Mr. Curry has choreographed commercials for Burger King, Target, Fila Sportswear, and numerous industrials. He conceived, directed, and choreographed “From Ballet to Broadway,” a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. He also produced and directed the 50th Anniversary Gala for the Joffrey Ballet School, which starred Patrick Swayze, Ann Reinking, and Cady Huffman and dancers from ABT, the Joffrey Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Mr. Curry is honored to return to the NYMF. His last appearance here was as choreographer for Captain Gravy’s Wavy Navy directed by Elizabeth Lucas. He is also on the board of directors for dre.dance, a dance company directed by Andrew Palermo and Taye Diggs. In addition to his BFA in Choreography, he holds a degree in Digital Filmmaking and Multimedia. Currently, he is the Creative Director for the NYC-based production company, Innovative Arts and Media.

 
Daryl Gray
Daryl Gray (Choreographer)

Daryl studied acting and the violin as a child and made his professional debut at age 14 in the role of "Toby" in the St. Louis Opera Guild's production of "The Medium". He was trained in a full dance curriculum at the Harkness, ABT and SAB schools in NYC. He was a B'way cast member of Dancin', apppeared as a soloist in On Your Toes and other shows, and was a guest artist with numerous dance companies in the US and abroad.

He was part of the faculty for Ann Reinking's Broadway Theater Project, and is a Fulbright Scholar, having taught for universities, dance organizations and companies worldwide..

 
Jeff Shade
Jeff Shade (Choreographer)

Mentored by Bob Fosse, dance captain of Broadway’s Chicago, and former teaching faculty at Harvard University - - Jeff Shade is here TO MAKE DANCES!!!

Recent projects include SISTER LOVE at Ohio Northern University. Other projects include a new concert piece titled CARRY ON, for the GUILD THEATER in NYC.........and co-choreographing the new musical, PLATFORMS,as part of last year's New York Musical Theater Festival (co-winner Outstanding Choreography).

Jeff’s choreography was featured in DANCEBREAK 2005, and has been seen In New York in THE DEVIL IS AN ASS (Dillon’s), NEW YORK MOVES (Atlantic Theater), and WATCHING MY HAIR GROW (Chelsea Playhouse). Television choreography includes Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, the Rosie O’Donnell Show, and the Hitomi Kiroki Japanese Television Special. Director/Choreography credits include CRAZY20FOR YOU (Pittsburgh Musical Theater), CHICAGO (Boston Conservatory), RANDOM ACTS OF TAPness (Boston Conservatory), and ROSES ARE DANCE (Symphony Space). Mr. Shade’s music and choreography have been commissioned by the Heinz Foundation (HEAVEN) and Harvard University (CHANGE),and produced by the River Side Stage Company (WATCHING MY HAIR GROW).

On Broadway, Jeff danced in SWEET CHARITY (directed and choreographed by BOB FOSSE), served as dance captain for CHICAGO (Walter Bobbie - director, Ann Reinking - choreographer), and was featured in TEDDY & ALICE (choreographed by Donald Saddler). Jeff also toured with CRAZY FOR YOU (choreographed by Susan Stroman). He was a soloist in GOTTA GETAWAY and featured in the CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR - - both at Radio City Music Hall. Television appearances include NIGHT OF 100 STARS, TONY AWARDS, MISS AMERICA, HBO CHRISTMAS, NBC’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, THE TODAY SHOW, LIVE WITH REGIS & KATHI LEE, and ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

Teaching credits include Harvard University, the Boston Conservatory, Point Park University, and STEPS on Broadway.

As a dance therapist, Jeff has worked in psychiatric units, halfway houses, and homeless shelters.

Jeff holds an M.A. in Dance Therapy (psychotherapy through movement), an M.B.A. from Columbia University (marketing/management), and a B.S. from Duquesne University.

Shea Sullivan (Choreographer)

Chris Kateff
Chris Kateff (Projection Designer)

Chris designs projections and creates artwork for live theater. Off-Broadway, Chris has designed projections for Wine Lovers (Triad Theater), Die Mommy Die (New World Stages), Esoterica (DR2 Theater), and Platforms--part of the 2007 New York Musical Theater Festival. He has assisted on several shows including most recently Palace of the End and Walmartopia (Leah Gelpe, designer). His Broadway assistant design credits include Ring of Fire and Jersey Boys. Chris is also an actor and photographer.

 
Catherine Lynch (Stage Manager)

Catherine Lynch is currently a Psychology student at NYU and plans on pursuing a career in stage management upon graduation. She is thrilled to be a part of Wild About Harry and NYMF. She has worked on productions here in New York, most recently including They Walk Among Us (MITF) and Jumping Blind (GayFest), and as far away as Florence, Italy with the Florence International Theatre Company. She currently works with the Broadway Classroom program at Broadway.com and at The Awesome 80's Prom.

 
Melinda Atwood (Producer)


Melinda Atwood is the founder & President of the Board of the DanceBreak Foundation which produces an annual showcase in NYC, presenting the work of emerging musical theater choreographers. DanceBreak alumni include all the artists seen in Wild About Harry as well as the award winning choreographers Casey Nicholaw, (Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone), Andy Blankenbeuhler (In The Heights, The Apple Tree, Desperately Seeking Susan), Mia Michaels, (So You Think You Can Dance), and Josh Prince (Shrek, The Musical). Melinda was part of the producing team for Common Grounds and Platforms, both of which won the NYMF 2006 and 2007 Awards for Excellence in Choreography.

Anthony Francavilla
Anthony Francavilla (General Manager)

Anthony produced; The Importance of Marrying Wells (Best Play, Theatre Web), The Fartiste (Outstanding Musical, Fringe NYC 2006), Semi-Permanent (Outstanding Solo-Show, Fringe NYC 2007), and Platforms (Outstanding Choreography, NYMF 2007). He is currently the Director of Operations at Playscripts, Inc. and an Associate Producer for NYMF. Professional memberships include: the Broadway League (Adjunct Member), NYMF's On Board and MENSA. Previously he spent one year as an Assistant General Manager at Richard Frankel Productions and two years as Operations Manager of Atlantic Theater Company.
