CASTRONAUTS (2008)
When El Supremo himself pays a surprise visit to a Havana drag cabaret, farce turns to catastrophe - and revolution!
Lyrics by Bobby Houston
Music by Randy Courts
Step into 'El Club Voodoo,' an illegal cabaret on a side street in Havana, where impresaria Lolita presides over an unruly troupe of dancing girls, dissidents, bootleggers and drag queens. On the night Castro himself decides to take a look, farce turns to fiasco -- and the troupe has no choice but to set sail for Florida in a converted '56 Chevy. Castronauts is a spicy blend -– a witty backstage comedy and an unexpected profile in courage.

Candace's previous New York credits include: ensemble/understudy for "Growing Up 70s"-- an Off-Broadway musical starring Barry Williams. I would like to thank my family (especially my dad) for their constant support of me while I am trying to survive in the city -- it is good to know I have you guys backing me up. And thanks to my friends, for keeping me sane (or insane) and for always coming out to see my crazy shows! I love you guys! And Brian -- for listening and pushing me to stay in the city when I wanted to give up... I love you. But I want to especially dedicate this performance to my mom, my aunt and my grandma -- thank you for being such a strong and inspiring group of women who have always been there for me with an encouraging word, kick in the butt and a reminder to always embrace who I am and follow my dreams. This is always for you! Usted es mi vida. Te amo mucho!!!!!
