Flight of the Lawnchair Man
A new musical about a guy with a dream, a chair, and 400 helium-filled balloons.
Meet Jerry Gorman. HeÃÂs a regular guy from Passaic, New Jersey who just wants to fly. The neighbors think heÃÂs nuts. His mother disapproves. But Gracie (Donna Lynne Champlin) believes in him. Laugh and cheer as Jerry (Christopher Sutton) soars to 16,000 feet with nothing but a lawnchair and 400 helium balloons. FLIGHT OF THE LAWNCHAIR MAN is a new musical that reminds the world that dreams can come true if you believe in yourself.
Two-time Tony Award nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett directs and choreographs the New York premiere production of FLIGHT OF THE LAWNCHAIR MAN after her successful staging of the show for Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut. The production first took flight at the Prince Music Theatre under the direction of Hal Prince.

"FLIGHT OF THE LAWNCHAIR MAN sends the audience out in its own lighthearted reverie with the giddiness of helium. Achieves the palpably energizing force of a transfusion. Irresistible!" - New York Times
ìThe show...lifts off and soars. Manages to charm, uplift and inspire great hope for the future of the American musical. The show delivers one show-stopping bit after another. LAWNCHAIR MAN has all its cylinders, or propellers, or balloons, working in unison, and itÃÂs a joyful, wacky accomplishment." - Variety
"A marvel of a musical. The audience's high when it leaves the theater puts them right up there in the stratosphere alongside Jerry. Irresistible! This wonderfully sappy, funny and finally touching pocket-size musical is filled with invention and charm.î - Hollywood Reporter
"Absolutely, undeniably superb. THE FLIGHT OF THE LAWNCHAIR MAN...is pure, unadulterated joy. From the opening number, this one has us in its magical and charming grip. It's so altogether transporting that LAWNCHAIR MAN got the audience to its feet and cheering like mad -- and one tough critic was overheard to proclaim it the single best thing the celebrated Prince Music Theater has done in its long history of bringing contemporary musicals to the stage. You'll definitely hit the street smiling." - A&L Magazine, Philadelphia
