Desperate Measures
A new musical loosely based on Shakespeare's Measure for Measure
"I'm not saying life is all sunshine and roses. Sometimes it's hard to live. But you must admit, it's a bit more appealing than the alternative." - Johnny Blood
Johnny Blood, a hotheaded young cowboy, is sentenced to hang for killing a man in a bar fight. When his sister, Susanna, a novice nun in a nearby Franciscan mission, pleads for his life, the Governor offers to pardon Johnny ñ if Susanna will sleep with him. What to do? The sheriff suggests Susanna say yes and then, under cover of darkness, switch places with one of the saloon girls. What happens next makes for a desperate mix of comedy, suspense and romance, in this Western musical loosely based on ShakespeareÃÂs Measure for Measure.

Quotes:
"You know a musical's working when the audience doesn't even wait for the end to start singing the tunes. At Saturday's world premiere of Desperate Measures, patrons were humming the act one closer, "In the Dark," at intermission... And it's not the only catchy composition in this brisk, charming new musical comedy." - Tom Sime, Dallas Morning News
