CAMPAIGN OF THE CENTURY
based on the book "Campaign of the Century" by Greg Mitchell
CAMPAIGN OF THE CENTURY is a new musical vaudeville about the notorious smear campaign against muckraking author Upton Sinclair during the race for Governor of California in 1934. In the depths of the depression, Sinclair offered a way out, offering hope to millions across the nation with his E.P.I.C. plan (End Poverty In California). Painting Sinclair as a Commie and worse, William Randolph Hearst, Louis B. Mayer, Irving Thalberg, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Aimee Semple McPherson, Louella Parsons and even Shirley Temple are just some of the characters involved in the outrageous shenanigans in the country's first real media campaign.
