SHELTER (2012)

A pop/rock musical about love, loss and starting over.

Book and Lyrics by Brittany Bullen
Music by Brittany Bullen and Newell Bullen

Troubled by the past, Jeanine is faced with the challenge of counseling residents of a Philadelphia women’s shelter. The women she meets and the struggles she faces help her to begin to start over.  Filled with romance, laughter and tears, this contemporary pop/rock musical is about what it means to be a woman and to really live.

Every production of Shelter seeks to raise funds and awareness for local Women's Shelters. We are pleased to announce that for every ticket sold, SHELTER will donate $3 to local homeless shelters.

Participating Organizations

Shelter is a full-length dramatic musical with Book and Lyrics by Brittany Bullen and Music by Brittany Bullen and Newell Bullen.  This sister and brother-in-law team spent just under a year conceptualizing and executing the show.  It was originally written to create a musical with mostly female roles.  As the show evolved, a larger mission became clear: to use the landscape of musical theater to create positive change for those who are less fortunate.

The production was first seen at a reading in March 2011 by a group of industry professionals as well as experts on homelessness.  After the reading, a workshop production was mounted as a fundraiser for local homeless shelters at the Historic Murray Theatre in Murray, Utah.  The show ran for two weeks and raised $10,000.00 for participating shelters.
