Chapin, president of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization. Join these artists in a conversation about the creative process and learn the secrets of songwriting!

Theodore S. Chapin
is President of Rodgers & Hammerstein, managing the works of many great authors of musical theater. Among the roster are Rodgers & Hammerstein, (together and separately), Irving Berlin, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is the Chairman of the Board of the American Theater Wing and the founding chairman of the Advisory Committee for City Center's Encores! His 2003 book Everything Was Possible: The Birth Of The Musical "Follies," prompted Stephen Sondheim to proclaim it “…the best book about the musical theater that I’ve ever read.”

Writers:
Masi Asare wrote music/lyrics for Sympathy Jones (Brooke Pierce, bookwriter), NYMF '07. Her work has been performed at the Ohio Theatre, Ars Nova, HERE, Dixon Place, and LaMaMa. She also co-authored rock theatre piece The Best, and has written songs for over a dozen children's theatre shows. She is an alum of The ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop, the New Dramatists/Nautilus Studio, and the BMI Workshop. She holds a BA from Harvard and an MA from NYU Tisch, both in performance studies. www.masiasare.com
   

Daniel Maté received a 2010 Jonathan Larson Grant for his music and lyrics. He is the lyricist and co-bookwriter, with composer Will Aronson, of The Trouble With Doug (Goodspeed Musicals, 2008; CAP 21, 2009) which will next be seen at the 2010 NAMT Festival of New Musicals. Daniel's song cycle The Longing and the Short of It was presented at Barrington Stage in 2009, and subsequently as part of the 2010 ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop. www.danielmate.com


Composer Chris Miller and lyricist Nathan Tysen’s work includes The Burnt Part Boys(Playwrights Horizons/Vineyard Theatre co-production),Fugitive Songs (Drama Desk Nom. for Outstanding Revue), and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick (Barrington Stage Co., Boston Globe Top Ten Pick of 2008). Awards and grants include Richard Rodgers, Jonathan Larson, Frederick Loewe, Kitty Carlisle Hart, and Daryl Roth. Current projects: an adaptation of Tuck Everlasting (book – Claudia Shear, director – Casey Nicholaw), and commissions from Lincoln Center Theater and Playwrights Horizons/Theatreworks Silicon Valley. www.millerandtysen.com
