Participate in 8Minute Musicals!

The AWOL Project is seeking Writers & Composers for 8Minute Musicals at NYMF 2010!
 
8Minute Musicals (8MM) will present 8 new short musicals created at NYMF 2010 in a collaborative workshop process designed to nurture talented, emerging writers and composers.  Here's how it works:

 
  *  8 composers and 8 writers who have never worked together are paired on a Friday evening.

  *  They are given some guidelines in creating a short musical theatre piece.

  *  Their first drafts are sight-read by 10 actor/singers that Sunday afternoon.

  *  The creative teams have 3 days for rewrites.

  *  The performers have 4 days for rehearsal with 2 directors and 2 music directors.

  *  8MM presents the new pieces to the public 10 days after the first meeting.

 
8MM aims to support the next generation of musical theatre writers and composers.  Inspired by the Jonathan Larson Award-winning Raw Impressions Music Theatre, which premiered over 150 new short musicals from 2001 to 2006, 8MM is a program of Artists WithOut Limits (AWOL) Theatre Project.  For more info and to apply, visit 8MinuteMusicals.org.
