Student Leadership Program

The NYMF Student Leadership Program (SLP) cultivates the development of young theatre professionals by creating a forum for students to become passionately involved with the New York Musical Theatre Festival. SLP gives NYC-area college students access to NYMF shows and the NYMF community (both artistic and administrative). By selecting an exclusive group of Student Leaders from different colleges who are passionate about NYMF and its mission, the initiative aims to create a more diverse audience by encouraging student leaders to raise NYMF awareness in their own communities.

The NYMF Student Leaders are the faces of NYMF within their own campuses and market NYMF in creative ways, sell tickets, volunteer for larger NYMF events, and assist with student-related programming (including post-show talk-backs, NYMF's ASCAP Educational Seminars, and college-themed events).  During the festival, the SLP team gathers once a week to allow students the opportunity to meet and mingle with their fellow representatives, forming unity between schools. These meetings also allow students to share their ideas, receive feedback from their peers, and collaborate on blogs and vlogs (video blog) that document their festival experience.

SLP participants have hailed from Barnard, Baruch, Columbia, Manhattanville, Marymount Manhattan, The New School, NYU, and Princeton.
