THE NEXT LINK PROJECT SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions accepted from January 1st to March 7th.


After reading the following section, you will be able to click through to the submission page.

Shows submitted for consideration should be considered “ready” for production and for exposure in the largest musical theatre event in the world. Shortlisted works will hear from us the week of April 4, with confirmation for successful works coming approximately a month later. This is the process for submitting your show to NYMF 2008.

1. Complete the online submission form and pay the application fee ($50 when postmarked by the February 1st Early Bird Deadline; $65 after). The application fee is non-refundable, but if you are selected for the Festival, $50 of it will be credited toward the $500 participation fee.  We prefer that you pay online when you are completing the submission form; we can accept bank checks but your show cannot enter the evaluation process until after the check has been received and cleared.

2. You will receive an confirmation email from us immediately after completing the online section of the submission process.  Print two copies of this - one for your files, and one which we request you attach with your submission.

3. Label your materials.  To facilitate our blind initial evaluation process, label all show materials other than the cover letter (and the existing optional support materials) with the title of show and the application ID only – NOT the author’s names.  Please note that NYMF will not accept materials if you have not already completed the online application process.



The materials we require, each labeled with your show’s title and application ID, include:

  • Demo recording containing at least half of the songs from the show, in show order, not including reprises or instrumental sections (CDs only; no need for a professional recording);
  • Detailed synopsis or treatment of your show, noting the placement of songs from the demo recording (2-3 pages);
  • 15-page script sample (1-3 book samples representing the heart of the show and including lyrics for at least one of the songs on the demo, stapled and totalling 15 pages);
  • Complete script, NOT in a folder or binder (brads or binder clips are fine, double-sided preferred);
  • If Applicable:  Proof of rights to adapt the underlying material, or to include material by other authors, if any such material is not in the public domain;
  • Optional:  Printed support materials, which may include reviews, awards, grants and letters of recommendation from theatre professionals familiar with either the show, or the authors’ other work.  This can, of course, have names of artists, as they are considered after the blind screening process is completed. (four pages maximum).


4. Mail your materials to us by the postmark deadline (Early Bird: February 1; Final Deadline: MARCH 7). Materials will NOT be returned – do not send SASE.  Do not send videos.  You may send a stamped, self-addressed postcard for receipt confirmation.  You are welcome to submit more than one show, but each show requires a separate application and separate payment of application fees.  All materials must be postmarked by MARCH 7 .
